Established in 1883 as the New York Gothams, and renamed 3 years later to the New York Giants, the club eventually moved to San Francisco in 1958. The Giants team has the most Hall of Fame players in all of professional baseball. San Francisco Giants rivalry with the Dodgers is one of the longest-standing and biggest rivalries in US sports. The clubs began their rivalry as the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers, respectively, before both franchises moved to the west of the country for the 1958 season.
